The openframe power supply PF-Series was been developed for applications where high current is needed for a short time and the recovery time is low.

300 Watts of power have been compacted into a 76x124x36 mm power supply. Size reductions have been achieved of nearly 6 times that of conventional 300W power supplies of this type. Our revolutionary dcdc concept reduces cost in terms of its ultra high efficiency at 96% via a fan-less operation (fan=high risk of failure & low MTBF) and omission of additional heatsinks for ultra small size constraints. A significant energy saving converter with only
a 4% loss = 12Watts. Remarkably, the temperature at full load is only
30-40°C!

Super ETG converter sets new benchmark in space and efficiency topping 95%!

The patented topology achieves a constant 95% efficiency, independent of load and input voltage changes. As a result, this new converter family requires no heatsink or fan, and benefits from significantly reduced size, power losses and low operation temperature.
The 600W ETG-Series with an input range of 200 – 400VDc offers a single output of 5Vdc (further outputs will follow soon). Furthermore, a new 1000W unit with the same characteristics is under development.
A benchmark has been achieved in terms of power density: the 600W ETG-Series represents around 1800W/dm³!

The current increase of interest in lead-free soldering technologies is being driven by both legislation in the EC and commercial activities in Japan. The electronics interconnection group at NPL is at the forefront of activities in the UK investigating the technical and implementational challenges facing the industry changing from Sn/Pb solders to the lead-free alternatives.
ETA has already made various sample tests with several ETA power supplies and can today provide lead-free soldered PCBs upon request and it will be production standard from the end of the2nd quarter of 2004. Reability tests with lead-free soldered models (for example BNM-12SA) have been conducted throughout 2003 and were successful at ambient temperatures between 30 to +850C without any failures, including vibrational testing.
Eutectic 63Sn/37Pb solder has been the dominant soldering material in the joints of electronic components for decades. The harmful impact of lead to the environment and human health has, however, led to an international trend to change national legislations to ban the use of lead in the manufacture of electronic products.
In the EU the proposed phase-out of lead via the ROHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive is either in 2006 or 2007.
The implementation of lead-free soldering materials requires not only changes in reflow profile, but also special attention to the selection of components and printed circuit boards (PCB), since in addition to solder paste, the component platings and PCB substrates will also be changed to lead-free ones. Incorrect process parameters or material selections may increase susceptibility to damage of thermally sensitive components or lead to excessive thickening of intermetallic layers, thereby leading to reliability problems.

ETA POWER has released its first footprint power supply with PFC! The new openframe power Supplies BF-Series have been developed for embedded power systems.
The 100W and 150W Series are equipped with an ACTIVE power factor circuit, inrush current limiter, over / under voltage protection and as safety device for over current regulation.
An double layer epoxy printed circuit board is the basic for a stable and proper function. Moisture and heat will not make any damages to the board thereof.
Two inlet filters taking away EMI disturbances. The BF-Series are convection cooled and is good for temperatures ranges between -25 and + 550C without derating. Using forced air cooling the unit can maintain up to + 750C. Nine single outputs (3.3, 5, 6, 9, 12, 15, 24, 36, 48Vdc) making the BF-Series to a very attractive power supply for designers and customers.
